Parmer County
Community Hospital

PCCH History

PCCH was founded in 1945 by a group of citizens who saw a need to bring healthcare to Parmer County.  In 1947, the room rate was $1.50 per day.  A visit to the doctor cost $2.00, and the cost of performing major surgery in 1949 was $25.00.

Director of Nursing Lynn Nelson as a ChildThe facility we know today as PCCH was constructed in 1956, 1960 and 1964, growing and changing as the needs of the community expanded.  The original building from 1947 was an old World War II barracks and still stands today.

Director of Nursing Lynn Nelson was the third baby born at PCCH.  Her mother was a nurse at PCCH for many years, and she has been a registered nurse here for 28 years.  Nelson is just one example of the rich history that makes PCCH the hometown hospital it is.  That is why you will always get “Personalized Care Close to Home”.
